Ascure and BCM Academy Launch BCMHelpdesk

Ghent, the 24th of November 2009. Ascure and BCM Academy are pleased to announce the official launch of a multi-lingual BCM Help Desk Service

Business Continuity Management (BCM) as a practice and sector has evolved greatly over the last decade and has reached an unprecedented level of maturity and widespread attention. BCM, being a holistic management system, is touching many domains such as Emergency Management, Risk Management, Disaster Recovery and Crisis Management.

For various reasons we have seen many organizations picking up BCM and assigning staff (either full time or part time) to various BCM roles. Armed with BCM standards and good practices, tools, templates and basic training, these BCM practitioners take up the daunting challenge of setting up and embedding BCM in their respective organizations.

When confronted with operational reality, these BCM Practitioners soon come across BCM issues and questions for which they could use some ad hoc advise or tips. In the current economic circumstances however, it may not be possible/practical to go for either specialized training or specific consulting projects. Sometimes all it takes is a tip, a few supportive words or some guidance to overcome the current issue and get back on track.
Ascure and BCM Academy want to reach out a helping hand to the troubled BCM practitioner by launching their multi-lingual BCM Helpdesk Service (English, French and Dutch).

Our business and technology mix (we call it our Ying/Yang approach) in all our services is the main key to this success. Being able to perform these services on a strategic, tactical and operational level has been well appreciated by our customers. Our challenge for 2008 and beyond is to make this successful approach even better.

Dirk Bosmans was CEO of Ascure from the beginning of 2005 with a specific task. The success and progress in the growth of Ascure for the last 3 years has proven that this goal has been achieved. Gent, the 23rd of October 2007 – The Institute of Risk management provides high quality education and training in risk management at a range of levels, from Introductory to expert. IRM is risk management’s leading professional education and training body.  Established as a not-for-profit organisation, the Institute is governed by practising risk professionals and has strong links to leading universities, business schools and professional organisations across the world.

Recognising that risk management is a multi-disciplinary field, we also work closely with many other specialist institutes and associations and seek to represent an increasingly broad and diverse set of stakeholders.

The worldwide membership of 2000 is drawn from industry commerce, consultancy and the public sector. Members have backgrounds in many different risk-related disciplines: accountants, project managers, insurers, chartered surveyors, health care professionals, lawyers, bankers, auditors, health and safety professionals and engineers are among those represented.

The IRM Certificate is the result of extensive work with major employers of risk professionals and IRM's own membership, to identify and design an entry-level qualification that spans the wide range of areas today's risk professionals are involved with. The first intake of Certificate students took place in the autumn of 2005; almost 200 students enrolled for the June 2006 exams.

Ascure Academy hosts SANS Audit 507 - Auditing Networks, Perimeters & Systems

Gent, the 3rd of September 2007 – The Ascure Academy hosts the SANS Audit 507 course from the 3rd of March until the 22nd of May 2008. This course is the end product of over one hundred skilled system, network and security administrators working with one common goal: to improve the state of information security.

Audit 507, like all SANS courses, is based on known and validated threats and vulnerabilities. These threats and vulnerabilities are explained based on validated information from real world situations that can be used to raise awareness within an organization and build an understanding of why auditing is important. From these threats and vulnerabilities, we build the countermeasures and defenses including instrumentation, metrics and auditing. The course begins with a high-level introduction on methods and audit programs. It then takes you through all the particulars of how to actually audit devices and IT systems that range from firewalls and routers all the way down to the underlying operating systems.

You'll be able to use what you learn the day you get home. Five of the six days in the course will include hands-on exercises with the tools discussed during the lecture sections. Each student is invited to bring their own Windows 2000 or higher laptop for use during class. The hands-on exercises will allow you to experiment with the audit tools discussed in class and to actually perform audit functions against SANS-provided servers in class. A great audit is more than marks on a checklist; it is the understanding of the best practices, system analysis and forensics. Sign up for this course and experience the mix of theory, hands-on, and practical knowledge.
